About the TOEIC language test
The TOEIC Business English test assesses your hearing, reading and grammar skills. The industry standard for English proficiency at the workplace, TOEIC is the largest language test program for English on the planet. Every year, more than 4.5 million people worldwide take this test.
Introduced in 1979, the TOEIC test was designed in the USA by the Center for Psychometrics ETS (Educational Testing Service). It is geared foremost to people who use English in a business context and who require a certificate that documents their English skills. This test is also recommended for people who are applying to work for international companies. Most global companies and more than 5,000 international businesses look to TOEIC when assessing their employees’ English proficiency, conducting upskilling and specifying the level of English required for a given job.
